Sleepy Time

So we have learned over the last seven weeks that our little Ellie has a hard time going to bed when it's bed time!  We have had to stay up pretty late most nights trying to rock her to sleep.  Once we get her to sleep in our arms we would put her in her cradle, and she would instantly wake up and start fussing!  We wondered what was up, but then realized that her little mattress was a little hard.  We put a blanket on top to try and make it soft, but it hasn't seemed to help that much.  She sleeps just fine when she's laying on mom and dad's bed or the couch, but not her cradle!  She definitely likes the finer things in life, like soft, plush sleeping arrangements!  She's super funny.  Clint's mom said it's like the Princess and the Pea story.  She would be able to feel that pea under all of those mattresses!

In those times when we are trying to get her to sleep, some of us...mostly dad...falls asleep with her!  So mom likes to take pictures of the two of them.  It will be fun to show Ellie someday!

Once we finally get her to sleep, we try to get her into her cradle.  Sometimes she wakes up and sometimes not.  It's always a guessing game!  And I know they say to put them in their cradle BEFORE they fall asleep, but this little one doesn't like that all the time!  I do put her in there when she's awake in the middle of the night, though.  I can't stay awake to rock her to sleep!  But she has a hard time falling asleep because she wants to be a part of what's going on.  Even if nothing is going on!  But no matter what she's still a cutie!

When it's finally time for her to wake up, she LOVES to stretch!  She's always liked her space, so we knew that she would love to stretch big!  But it's so funny to watch her wake up and listen to the funny noises she makes.  It's just one more thing that makes us love her so much!

Ellie's Growing Up!

As of yesterday, Monday, October 17, Ellie was seven weeks old!  I just cannot believe it!  She will be two months old next week and I am just in shock!  I have been so lucky to have ten weeks of Maternity Leave from work also.  This is the seventh week, and I am definitely not looking forward to going back!  I love spending my days with little Ellie, even though I don't seem to get much done besides feeding her and taking care of her and then trying to take care of myself and get dinner made by the time Clint gets home!  But we're going to be moving here in the next week or two, so I need to start packing while I'm home during the days!  But it has been so fun to see Ellie grow so much.  I swear she gets bigger and bigger each day and I am so grateful for cameras.  I don't think we've gone a day without taking a picture of her!

So I posted last week about the funny pictures Clint and I get with our phones of Ellie.  Well, I got more pictures of her cute faces!  After I feed Ellie and she's in a happy fun mood, I like to kiss her cheeks like crazy!  I've started saying 'Kisses' before I kiss her, to help her learn that when I kiss her it's called a kiss!  Anyway, she has started kissing back!  It's so so so fun.  She gets the biggest little grin and makes little kissing noises back to me.  If I had to say what my favorite thing is about being a mom, it would be just those cute little moments when she looks back at me with her biggest little grin and just starts cooing.  I think Clint would say the same thing about being a Dad.  It just kind of lets us know that she knows us and hopefully loves us as much as we love her!

So here are some more fun, cute little pictures of our seven-week old Ellie!  She's such a sweetie and we love her so much!

Weber State Football

Last Saturday, October 15, we took Ellie to her first Weber State Football game!  It was so fun!  It was pretty hot when we got there, but halfway through it was just perfect weather! But it was really fun.  Clint's family has gone to Weber State football games for many, many years now and it has always been a little tradition for them.  I started going with them when we were dating and now it's a little tradition for us too!

We got all dressed up in our purple Weber State shirts and got ready to go.  They don't have little newborn shirts for Weber State, so we put Ellie in a purple onesie with a purple flower and we were ready to go!  Although next year we do plan on buying a little Weber State cheerleading outfit for little Ellie to wear!  That will be so fun!

Enjoy the fun pictures!

You can't see the score very well, but it was 39 to 12 for Weber State!  Yahoo!

Funny Ellie

We think that Ellie is just the funniest little girl.  She has such a personality already and she's only six weeks old!  After a good feeding she is bound to talk and coo at you for a while, and always fits quite a few of her little grins in there!  The other day I had a hard time keeping her entertained during the day, but I don't think she felt very well.  She spent most of the day fussing and I couldn't get much done.  I got her fed right before Clint got home from work, and when he got home I told him that she had been fussy all day.  He came over and asked Ellie if she had been a stinker that day, and she turned and looked right at me and got the hugest GRIN on her face!  As if to say, 'Yes, mom, I was a stinker!'  It was just the funniest thing ever.  I couldn't help but laugh!

As you've seen before, we try and get those funny little faces of hers on camera so that we can look back on them and laugh.  Sometimes, though, we don't have the camera near by but we still want to get a picture of her.  In those cases, a phone sure comes in handy!  Here are some of our favorite pictures that we took of Ellie with our phones.

Conference Breakfast

I know this is a little late, but we just uploaded the pictures from the camera, so I thought it would be fun to talk about our Conference tradition.  Really it's Clint's dad's family's tradition.  Did that make sense?  Anyway, every Conference Sunday Gary's siblings and their families get together and have breakfast.  They take turns doing it at each others' houses, and this year it was at Mike & Carolyn's.  It's always fun to get together with everyone, but definitely a little loud!  I don't know if I've really paid attention to Conference since we started doing this!  But it really is fun and we enjoy it.

Kenna's boyfriend Navarro left on a mission on September 14 so he wasn't able to be with us this time.  (Kenna is Clint's little sister)  He only had two weeks to prepare to leave!  It was nuts!  He got his mission call on August 27, which was a Saturday, and he had to report to the MTC on September 14!  So he's in the MTC right now and she's missing him like crazy.  When Clint was on his mission his family would send him lots of pictures of smiley faces, so we took smiley face pictures for Navarro too.  We sure do miss having him around.  He's a great kid and we know that he makes Kenna super happy.  Only two years to go, though, till he's home!!!

This is a picture of Clint's Dad, Mom, and two youngest sisters.  Gary rode in Lotoja this year and while they were there they all bought shirts and wore them to Conference breakfast, so we took a picture of their shirts!  We have taken other pictures of other shirts...that's why we took it like this.

Ellie was a tired puppy!!!  And little Anna wanted to see what was going on!
